Installing GTalk

Google Talk (GTalk) is a free web-based application running under Windows for instant messaging and voice over internet protocol (VOIP) features, provided by Google Inc. To download, click "More" in the Google home page, then "Even more" in the menu that opens. In the page that appears, click "Talk" in the "Communicate, show & share" section.

A faster method is to type http://www.google.com/talk/ directly into the address bar of the browser. A new window will open.

Click Download Google Talk

Double-click on the file googletalk-setup.exe to start the installation. If you're running Windows Vista, a message will appear warning you that Google Talk only works on Windows 2000, XP or 2003. Ignore this and continue with the installation.

Two versions of Google Talk are available: one that must be installed on the computer and another that can be used from a browser without any installation.

There is no Linux or Mac OS version. However, GTalk supports multiple standards. It is possible to install other mail clients on Linux or Mac OS.
